Welcome Our New Program Coordinator: Gwen Love!

Tell us about yourself!

My name is Gwendolyn Love (she/they) and I’m from Cleveland, OH. I am a recent UNC-CH grad where I studied African and African American Studies with a focus on Black Sexuality Studies. When I am not at the Center, I am a writer, researcher, and spoken word artist.

What made you decide to join the LGBT Center of Raleigh team?

I decided to join the Center because I always want to be of service to the communities that have served (and still do) serve me. Whatever chance I get to take up space and pave the way for those who have been marginalized and/or excluded from the narrative, I will take it.

What are some things you’re looking forward to in this role?

Lately I’ve really been looking forward to expanding all of our youth programs. I love working with teens and young people, so that’s been at the top of my list. I’ve also been having some ideas for new Queer Life programs that I would like to spearhead.

What is your go to Raleigh restaurant?

I haven’t been in the Raleigh area long, but Sullivan’s Steakhouse is definitely my number 1 right now.

What are activities or hobbies you like to do outside of work?

I touched on some of the main ones in the first question, but I love visual art; I draw a bit in my free time. I also was a show choir/theater kid growing up, so I love music. Other than that, I like to hang out with my friends, laugh, and just have a good time.
