Executive Director Position

The LGBT Center of Raleigh is seeking an Executive Director who can provide visionary leadership to the organization. The LGBT Center of Raleigh is a dynamic, new community center located in the heart of downtown Raleigh We are looking for a leader who is charismatic, experienced, and can engage our various constituencies to share in our vision, participate in our programs, volunteer their talents, and lend their full financial support. Most importantly, we are seeking an individual who is excited about this terrific growth opportunity, someone who will serve as an articulate and passionate spokesperson for the LGBT Center and who welcomes the challenge of taking the Center beyond the limits of its current 200k budget. This position is a great match for someone who wants to apply his/her experience, develop new skills, and make a profound difference in the Raleigh community. This position will report directly to the Board of Trustees of the LGBT Center of Raleigh, NC.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising:

  • Engage, motivate, and grow the supporter base.
  • Work with the Development Committee to grow the organization’s financial resources and strengthen its financial position through Foundation and government grants, major events, individual and corporate donor solicitation, and strategic partnerships.
  • Attend fundraising events and other development opportunities.

Relationship Building:

  • Maintain the credibility, reputation, and good standing of the organization
  • Establish and grow strong partnerships with board members, clients, donors, politicians, corporations, foundations and community organizations.

Administration

  • Ensure effective management of day-to-day operations of the LGBT Center.
  • Assist the board in overseeing the governance of the organization and the execution of the strategic plan.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Deep understanding of LGBT issues and a commitment to North Carolina
  • Track record of commitment to social justice and other LGBT Center values. At least 3-5 years experience soliciting donations and grants with tangible evidence of results.
  • The ability to grow and manage major donors.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to maintain and grow key relationships
  • Bachelor’s degree

Preferred:

  • Senior level nonprofit management experience including working with boards.
  • Experience in policy advocacy, capacity building, community organizing, and fundraising.
  • Familiarity with local, state, regional, and national LGBT entities and leaders.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • The salary range for this position is $40,000-$50,000 per year including a benefits package and paid time off.
