First Friday: The Photography of Edwin Cadena
Edwin Cadena was born in Zapatoca (in Colombia), a small town at the Andes of South America. He went to the Universidad Industrial de Santander for his Bachelor degree in Geology, and then he moved to Panama - working for two years with the Smithsonian Institution - collecting fossil turtles at the Panama Canal. He got a Masters of science degree from University of Florida, and currently he is PhD student at NC State University studying the evolution of turtles. He was part of the team of paleontologists that discovered the biggest snake known so far - “Titanoboa.” He is an amateur photographer, enjoying the magic of every shot that he can get of people, places, nature, and the tiny world around us. When the people ask him about what camera he uses for his photos, he always responds saying: “The best that you can use: your eyes!”
Visit his web site at www.colofoto.com and come to the First Friday Art & Wine Reception at the LGBT Center of Raleigh on Friday, January 6th, from 6 until 9 pm. His work will also be on display throughout the month of January. Stop by and see it!
