Carolyn Davis Featured for February’s First Friday
The LGBT Center of Raleigh is excited to present the art of Carolyn Davis in our Center gallery during the month of February 2012. It will be on display beginning on Friday, February 3rd, at the Center’s First Friday Art and Wine Reception from 6:00 until 9:00 pm.
Carolyn says, “My photography buzz started with an 8th grade Intro to Darkroom class. Being in the dark room, dragging the paper through the developer, bath, and fixer was a magical process. I remember how amazed I was to watch the transition of my art come to life before my eyes.
“At the age of 28, I was planning a month long trip to Peru. ‘Why Peru?’ people would ask. When I returned, I answered this question with five photo albums filled with not only photos of tourist destinations like Machu Picchu, but common occurrences in the lives of everyday people. In sharing my photos, I was driven by how much people learned about a far away place through my eyes.
“Photography helps me be a better storyteller. I enjoy seeing the beauty in every moment of life and photography helps me remember and share those moments with others. I feel I make the world smaller by expanding someone’s visual concept of a place they’ve never been.
“Let’s go to Spain!”
The LGBT Center of Raleigh is proud to be the Triangle’s only venue dedicated to showcasing LGBT artists and craftspeople! A percentage of artwork sales are donated to the Center. Appetizers generously provided by NOFO at the Pig. If you would like to be a featured artist or know someone who should be featured, please contact Matt Mirarchi at .
