The LGBT Center of Raleigh has opportunities for talented students to learn and practice skills in a welcoming and empowering environment. The Center is currently seeking:
Grants/Foundations Lead Coordinator
Description:
The Development Committee is seeking a volunteer to join the committee to lead efforts for funding through Grants and Foundations. The Development Committee will work closely with this volunteer position to help develop specific skills and understanding required in order to succeed. Specific duties include:
- Research and documentation of various grants and foundations opportunities
- Organizing meetings
- Building a project schedule with lead time, milestone and key dependencies
- Tracking status of work in progress
- Establishment of success criteria and performance metrics
This person will attend monthly Development Committee meetings to report on activities, as well as work independently on grant activities. The ideal candidate will be organized, adept at planning and tracking tasks, possess strong written and oral communication skills, and enjoy interacting with the community. Grant writing experience a plus, but not necessary.

Historian / Writing Assistant
Description:
- What: Compiling the history of the LGBT movement in the Triangle region. Creativity and dedication to the population absolutely necessary
- Where: 411 Hillsborough Street, the LGBT Center of Raleigh
- When: Ongoing
- Why: Post Amendment 1, the Center must coordinate and disseminate a consistent and effective message of hope to our community. Now more than ever, people need hope for a better future. The only way to convey a bright future is to illuminate the past.
Responsibilities:
- Write effective copy, excelling in correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
- Use alternate forms of communication (including graphic arts), resulting in improved interactions.
- Edit and proof other team members work and provide constructive feedback
- Assisting the Executive Director in all tasks related to communications and development
Requirements:
- Possess skills at initiating innovative ideas, unifying team members, and judging correctly what will appeal to target audiences.
- Prefer challenges that involve communication, are people-oriented, promote networking and socializing, and include roles that call for imagination.
- Tact, humility, and a sense of humor.

Communications and Development Assistant
Description:
- What: Coordinating communications and development activities in a small nonprofit; including grants research, planning, and writing - social media outreach - contributing to overall development plan - Email blasts and calendar upkeep
- Where: 411 Hillsborough Street, the LGBT Center of Raleigh
- When: Ongoing
