All new board members should serve on at least one committee or volunteer at the center for at least three to six months prior to being considered for the board. Potential board members should be in good standing on their committee or have an acceptable volunteer status before applying.
The only exception to this rule is current volunteers or previous board members who left the board in good standing.
Potential board members should fill a specific skill set (development, fundraising, marketing, community relations, etc.).
Potential board members should reflect the diversity of our LGBTQ community (ability, age, gender, orientation, race, etc.).
Potential board members should be aware that they will need to volunteer or join a committee before they apply and go through the vetting process before being voted onto the board.
Board acceptance is not guaranteed.
All board applicants will attend at least one executive board meeting prior to referral to the full board.
All board applicants will attend at least one regular board meeting prior to the applicant’s vote.
