    Paula Kohut is a shareholder Kohut & Adams, PA, in Wilmington, North Carolina where she focuses her law practice in trust and estate planning and administration, non-profits and business law. In 2011, she came out and began living her life authentically as a transgender woman. Since coming out, Paula has written and presented on the legal challenges and successes affecting the LGBTQ community, with emphasis in her area of legal practice - trust and estate planning and administration, as well as on her personal experiences with gender bias.She is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (and a Member of its Diversity and Inclusivity and Elder Law Committees) and Council Member of the Estate Planning and Fiduciary Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association. Paula is currently a member of the North Carolina Department of Administration's Commission on Inclusion and the Governor's Advisory Council on Aging. She is also a board member of St. Jude's Wilmington Foundation and Coastal Women Attorneys.

    While the increase in visibility of the LGBTQ community has been an important in the equality movement, discrimination, stigma and systemic inequality persist. Hear Paula speak about LBTQ rights, aging issues, and her personal experiences.
