    We're hosting a SPECIAL DISCUSSION PANEL with several Key (and LOCAL!) Black Leaders in the LGBTQ Movement. Please COME OUT and listen to Leaders from our community talk about their roles in our collective history and reminisce about the past. They will also talk about the future of our movement from their unique, individual perspectives.

    Confirmed for the panel:

    • Candis Cox: openly Transgender LGBTQ Educator and Advocate, Equality NC Board Member, and winner of the HRC Person of the Year award among many other honors.
    • Mandy Carter: co-founder of the National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC); former Executive Director and one of the 6 co-founders of the North Carolina-based Southerners On New Ground (SONG); and a prominent black LGBT activist.
    • Marcus Brandon: the only openly LGBT member of the North Carolina General Assembly during his term from 2011 to 2014. Marcus hails from Greensboro. He is now the executive director of NorthCarolinaCan.
    • Kendra Johnson: current executive director of Equality NC. Her prior position was as the Arkansas State Director for the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), where she led the organization's Project One America.
