Common Woman Chorus and Triangle Gay Men's Chorus partner together to present a new work, Quiet No More, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising.
This work celebrates those who rose up and fought back during this pivotal moment in history which sparked the LGBTQ+ rights movement. "Quiet No More," commissioned by the New York Gay Men's Chorus and Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles, will have performances by choruses throughout the US in 2019, the largest collaboration in the history of LGBTQ choruses. The work encourages everyone to join in the renewed spirit of resistance for the future - not just for LGBTQ+ individuals, but for all victims of bullying, hate, intolerance, and violence.
Special guests Triad Pride Women's and Men's Choruses will perform with us.
A portion of proceeds will benefit the LGBTQ Center of Durham and the LGBT Center of Raleigh.
Tickets are $35, $25 and $15. www.carolinatheatre.org/tickets
This performance in Fletcher Hall is made possible in part by a grant from the Durham Arts Council's Fletcher Performing Arts Fund of the Triangle Community Foundation.
