Family Story TimeFamily Story Time Wins Grant from American Library Association

The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), has awarded the LGBT Center’s Library with the 2014 Light the Way: Library Outreach to the Underserved Grant, sponsored by Candlewick Press. As the winner of the grant, the Library will receive $3,000 for our Family Story Time program. The grant will enable us to purchase more children’s books and LGBT parenting materials, to increase publicity and marketing of the program, and to acquire arts and crafts and puppets to supplement the event. Megan Roberts, Family Story Time Program Director and Youth Services Librarian at Cameron Village Regional Library says, “Volunteering at the Center is the most rewarding thing I do.” Read more from the ALA press office.
