The Women’s Initiative: A Program of the LGBT Center of Raleigh is a community that encourages friendship and intellectual exchange with feminists, scholars, and mentors. Our purpose is to create more intersectional and inclusive spaces for the empowerment of women everywhere.
All kinds of people are welcome to learn more at our social and speaker events. Our purpose is to educate all members of the community about women's issues and elevate the voices of women working to help marginalized communities.
Events are open to the public, i.e. organizers do not regulate who attends events and all guests will be admitted with the exception of asking for state-issued ID to serve alcohol. Organizers ask participants to acknowledge and respect the fact that the Women’s Initiative is a program for understanding the struggle of women and subverting existing cisheteropatriarchy. We do not police spaces.
