Same Sex Marriage has officially arrived in our state. Some couples have already taken advantage of the opportunity to get married here while others will not. There are so many reasons for this mixed reaction – lack of employment protections, being outed to family or friends, or not subscribing to the institution of marriage. And beyond those concerns, there is still more work to be done to achieve access to the rights and privileges afforded the average citizen. Participants at the forum will discuss the sources of the diversity of feelings and consider ways to support each other in this time of change.
Friday, October 24, 6:30pm - 8:30 pm
Affirming Faith Forum
At the forum, readings from Tony Kushner’s Pulitzer-Prize winning play Angels in America will give voice to how people came together during a critical time in LGBTQ history. Participants will explore how bonds of love are created to overcome alienation and discover forgiveness. An official Banned Books Week event.
Our goal is to act on the call to community healing and reconciliation. Participants will join community leaders, to reflect on considerations and options for getting and staying connected with family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues while discussing the issues.

At the LGBT Center of Raleigh
324 South Harrington Street, Raleigh, NC
We believe that the call to be a loving and just community is significant to life in our community. This scriptural imperative is especially significant now when anti LGBTQ hate based religious rhetoric threatens our lives and well being. We meet in the strength and love of community, attesting to how shame and guilt are disarmed.
Welcome to a safe place of radical hospitality.
